1. Literature is the art of written works. Literally translated, the word means, "acquintance with letters" (from Latin littera letter), and therefore the academic study of literature is known as Letters (as in the phrase "Arts and Letters").
I choose this definition because it is broad. Literature is the creative use of language. Writers uses words that will attract readers to read their work. Literature is like a painting instead of using a colorful materials, writers uses creative words.
Literature for me is using creative words in order to create a beautiful work of art. Creating a literary works is like painting a picture. Writers need to concentrate for them to create a great novels.

2. F. Sionil Jose
- F. Sionil Jose is one of the most widely-read Filipino writers in the English language. His work was written in English - have been translated into 22 languages including Korean, Indonesian, Russian and etc.
- His awards are Ramon Magsaysay Award for Journalism, Literature and Creative Communication Arts, National Artist Award for Literature, Pablo Neruda Centennial Award and Palanca Awards.
- One of the greatest influences to Jose was his industrious mother who went out of her wat to get him the books he love to read, while making sure her family did not go hungry despite of povery and landlessness.

Dr. Jose Rizal
- Jose Rizal's most famous works were his two novels, Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo. These writings angered both the Spaniard and the hispanicized Filipinos due to their insulting symbolism.
- The greatest achivement that Jose Rizal have is that he successfully lifted up the spirit of the Revolutionary movement that lead into the Philippines independence.
